Sanatana books date at Telmex Auditorium

Rock legend Carlos Santana will return to his home state on Wednesday, March 7 for a concert at the Auditorio Telmex.

Santana, 64, was born in Autlan, Jalisco but left with his parents for California at the age of seven.

The town in southern Jalisco is soon due to open a new museum featuring two rooms dedicated to its distinguished native son.

A statue of Santana already stands in the town’s main plaza and his parents’ former house is a shrine and museum.

In September 2006, the musician cut the ribbon at a new health center in Autlan, financed with funds raised from a benefit concert he held in Guadalajara the previous year.

The Guadalajara concert is part of Santana’s “Sound of Collective Consciousness Tour.”  Half of the proceeds from the concert are earmarked for the Fundacion Milagroso charity.

Santana is regarded as one of rock music’s greatest guitarists.  In a career spanning more than four decades, he has won TEN Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards.

Tickets cost from 307 to 1,757 pesos and are available through Ticketmaster.
