Masterpieces in chalk

The First Madonnari Festival took place at the Guadalajara Zoo last weekend, with 70 highly-talented street artists laying down chalk depictions of different animals.

Jose Antonio Collantes claimed the first prize of 15,000 pesos for his image of a giant eye entitled “Te estoy viendo” (photo left). The colorful “Tortuga Milenaria” by David Gonzalez and Jose Carlos Ibarra received an honorary mention and 1,000 pesos in prize money. The works can be seen in the main concourse of the Guadalajara Zoo, where they will remain for 15 days.
