Orchestra switches weekend concert venue

To accommodate scenery construction for an upcoming play, the third program of concerts by the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO) has been moved a few hundred yards from the Degollado Theater to the State Government Palace (Palacio de Gobierno).

Guest Spanish conductor Oriel Sans will lead the orchestra in this new locale on Friday, March 9, 8:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 11, 12:30 p.m.

The open-air seating capacity in the palace is limited to 600 and it remains to be seen how the acoustics fare but JPO director Roberto Torres promises “a nice experience” for patrons.  Ticket prices have been reduced to 100 pesos general admission for the two concerts.  They are on sale at the Degollado box office, through Ticketmaster and will also be available at the Government Palace prior to the concerts.
