Two legends of 1960s rock and folk are due to perform in Guadalajara just days apart in May: Sir Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan.
After a long and winding road of speculation, it has finally been confirmed: McCartney is bringing his “On the Run” tour to Guadalajara’s Omnilife Stadium. With the 69-year-old former Beatle’s concert scheduled for Saturday, May 5, it won’t be long before thousands of Tapatios come together to twist and shout the night away.
It promises to be a special day in the life of any music lover: expect a three-hour show of Beatles classics, Wings material, solo hits and hopefully not the infamously bad children’s hit “Frog Chorus.”
The tour will also see McCartney get back to Mexico City, where he last performed in 2010, with a concert at the Estadio Azteca on May 8.
While money can't buy you love, it can secure you tickets to see Sir Paul. Prices range from a reasonable 450 pesos to a staggering 12,000 pesos. Tickets go on sale March 28.
As if McCartney’s appearance wasn’t enough, the freewheelin’ 70-year-old singer-songwriter Bob Dylan will bring it all back home at the Auditorio Telmex on Wednesday, May 9.
The croaky voiced folk singer famously inspired the Beatles’ more experimental offerings by introducing them to marijuana and challenging John Lennon to write songs about something other than love.
Dylan’s Guadalajara concert is sandwiched between dates in Monterrey and Mexico City on May 7 and 11 respectively. He last played the Auditorio Telmex in March 2008. There will be a presale for Banamex cardholders on April 12 and 13. Tickets cost from 280 to 980 pesos.
