Aside from an array of live performances, this year’s May Cultural Festival will also host three exhibitions of Quebec art.

“Dominique Lemieux’s Imagining Characters” recreates the magic of the world famous Cirque de Soleil in the halls of the Cabañas Cultural Institute. A second exhibition in the Cabañas Cultural Institute is entitled “Candid.” A satire of human nature, the show is comprised of 35 to 40 installations, videos, photographs and paintings.

The two exhibitions open Saturday, May 12, 8.30 p.m. and will remain on display until July 15. Regular opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free during the inauguration, after which the Cabañas’ regular entry fee applies.

A third exhibition, the “Quebec-Jalisco Graphic Dialogue,” features prints from from 25 Quebec artists and six graphic artists from Jalisco.  Hosted by the Ex Convento del Carmen (Av. Juarez 638), the exhibition opens Wednesday, May 16, 8.30 p.m. and will remain up until June 24.
