Annual American School Art Fest runs Saturday, Nov. 8

The American School of Guadalajara’s hosts its 26th annual Art Fest on Saturday, November 8.

Fifty-one professional artists will be exhibiting their work at the school along with talented young painters from the school.  Some 800 works by students will be on show.

Held on the school’s grounds in Colonia Providencia, the festival welcomes a family crowd, with plenty of entertainment, food and activities, as well as the excellent art on show. Most of the artists will be on hand to explain and talk about their work.

The festival has grown in importance and prestige over the years, says artist Paco de la Peña, who will take the gavel at the annual pre-festival auction held at the Club de Industriales (Francisco Javier Gamboa 2, Colonia Ladron de Guevara) on Friday, November 7, from 7 p.m. until midnight.

Thirty-one of the artists taking part in the festival have donated a work for the auction. Examples by 20 other top artists, both national and international, will also be up for grabs.

This year’s festival will pay homage to renowned artist Lorenza Aranguren and journalist Yolanda Zamora, host of the morning radio program “A las Nueve Con Usted” and a former student at the American School.

At the event, Aranguren will team up with 500 students to paint a five by two meter abstract mural.  Zamora will also participate in workshops with students.

The Festival de Arte follows at the schoolruns  grounds (Colomos 2100, Colonia Italia Providencia) on Saturday, November 8, from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Entry is free to both events. Everyone is welcome.
