Concerts are held each Monday at this classy and relatively new cultural complex to the north of the city.
July 31: Pianist Willy Zavala and vocalist Mónica Zuloaga perform a mix of jazz and Mexican sounds.

Tuesday recitals
The Jalisco Culture Secretariat’s “Martes de Música y Ópera” series showcases talented classical musicians at free-of-charge Tuesday evening recitals. August 8: Baritone Alejandro Lazzarini is accompanied by pianist Sergio Hernández. Hear operatic classics by Mozart in the first half of the recital; Mexican classics (Agustín Lara, Manuel M. Ponce, María Grever) in the second. August 15: Guitarist Hugo Gracian and flautist Eduardo Arambula interpret works dating from ancient Greece to the 20th century. August 22: The Orquesta de Cámara Elga performs suites by Warlock, Janacek, Holst and Grieg.

Thursday Dance

Folk dance
Regarded as the best folk dance troupe in Mexico, the Ballet Folklorico of the Universidad de Guadalajara returns for another season of summer shows on Sunday evenings. See dances from all over the country, as well as emotive local favorites, such as the “Jarabe Tapatio” and “La Culebra.” Not to be missed!

Leiden
The Festival de las Artes de Jalisco (FESTA) kicks off with an inaugural concert by Leiden, a 29-year-old Cuban-Mexican folk-rock singer. The neice of famed Cuban poet Roberto Fernández Retamar, Leiden has resided in Mexico since the age of nine, first in Tijuana and later Guadalajara.

Disney on Ice
Kids and adults can meet up with their favorite cartoon characters in this annual show that is hard not to love.

Batería al Frente
Dozens of drummers from the Academia de Batería Francisco Molina play pop and rock from various eras. Solos, and also accompanied by an invited band.

Chris Botti
Presentation by U.S. trumpeter and composer who started to gain fame in 2001 with the recording of his “Night Sessions” album. In 2013, Botti won the Grammy Award in the Best Pop Instrumental Album category for the album “Impressions.” He was also nominated in 2008 for his album “Italia” and received three nominations in 2010 for the live album “Chris Botti In Boston.”
