Outdoor cultural screenings

Plazas, parks and other public spaces around Mexico are — or soon will be — playing host to a federal program bringing its citizens in contact with their nation’s rich cultural heritage.

Jalisco, specifically Guadalajara’s Parque Metropolitano, has the honor of being one of the first states to take part in “La Cultura A-Pantalla,” which consists of a selection of cultural offerings – dance, music, cinema and documentaries – projected on a large LED screen.  The installation will offer free-of-charge cultural edification Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., for the next three months. The program begins Saturday, August 5.

“The projections,” reads a governmental missive promoting the project, “brings culture to a greater number of citizens and lets people know what’s going on in other cities around the country.”
