Ballet de Jalisco
The state’s only full-time professional classical dance troupe gives six open-air presentations on consecutive weekends of the world-famous ballet, Swan Lake, in the city’s most popular and largest park.

Siddhartha the Musical
An original musical production by Chu Un Temple, under the direction of the Fo Guang Shan Academy of Art of the Philippines. The musical is an adaptation of “The Biography of Sakyamuni Buddha,” written by Buddhist monk Hsing Yun, founder of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Order in Taiwan.

Modern dance
Compagnie Käfig from France presents “Pixel,” an hour-long performance incorporating a host of digital projection mapping techniques and 11 dancers, that bills itself as “a work on illusion combining energy and poetry, fiction and technical achievement, hip hop and circus.”

The Jalisco Culture Secretariat’s “Martes de Música y Ópera” series showcases talented classical musicians at free-of-charge Tuesday evening recitals. November 7: Céfiro Trío de Alientos (trio of wind instruments) interprets works by Mozart, José Pablo Moncayo, Jean Françaix and Miguel Bernal Jiménez. The Met: Live in HD
The Metropolitan Opera presents Thomas Adès’s “The Exterminating Angel,” inspired by the classic Luis Buñuel film of the same name. Hailed by the New York Times as “inventive and audacious … a major event,” the opera is a surreal fantasy about a dinner party from which the guests can’t escape. Tom Cairns, who wrote the libretto, directs the production; Adès conducts his own adventurous new opera.
