Folk dance

The 2018 season of one of Mexico’s premier dance groups, the University of Guadalajara’s Ballet Folclorico, is now underway.  Founded in 1960, the acclaimed troupe is currently made up of about 168 singers, dancers and musicians.  Seven performances, which typically showcase different music styles from around Mexico, take place each Sunday through the end of March.

The Jalisco Culture Secretariat’s “Martes de Música y Ópera” series showcases talented classical musicians at free-of-charge Tuesday evening recitals. February 20: The seven-member Ensamble de Cámara Hélinger play pieces composed by Ernesto Hélinger. February 27: Recital featuring artists from the Northern Lights Festival de Febrero in Ajijic.

Steve Hackett

English musician, songwriter, singer and producer who gained prominence as the guitarist of the rock band Genesis between 1971 to 1977, before leaving to pursue a solo career. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis in 2010.
