The Shen Yun company brings to life 5,000 years of Chinese civilization, dynasties and legends through classical Chinese dance and music in an exhilarating show. Alex Mercado Trio
The 12th Jalisco Jazz Festival presents Mexican jazz master Alex Mercado on piano, supported by Israel Cupich on bass and Gabriel Puentes on drums. Mercado is best known for his particular interpretative style and instrumental technique, incorporating contemporary jazz with pop atmospheres. He has been described by Music Life Magazine as “one of the best Mexican jazz players,” and two of his albums have been reviewed by Down Beat.

Rubén Blades
In a Mother’s Day treat, famed Panamanian singer, songwriter, actor, musician, activist and politician is joined by Roberto Delgado & Orquesta to play music from their acclaimed album, “Salsa Big Band,” among other songs. The recording won Album of the Year and Best Salsa Album at last year’s Latin Grammy Awards. Blades performs most often in the Afro-Cuban, salsa, and Latin jazz genres.

GR RECOMMENDS: Festival de Mayo
Guadalajara’s May Festival opens with performances by the Marie Chouinard Dance Company of Quebec of “The Garden of Earthly Delights,” based on Hieronymus Bosch’s famous triptych. In 2016, Canadian choreographer Chouinard was invited by the Hieronymus Bosch 500 Foundation to create the piece to mark the 500th anniversary of the artist’s death.
