The Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra has announced a six-concert fall season running September 6 through November 4.
All the performances take place at the Teatro Degollado in downtown Guadalajara on Thursdays (8:30 p.m.) and Sundays (12:30 p.m.), except for the fifth program, when there is no scheduled Sunday concert. Tickets for all the concerts cost a very reasonable 110-200 pesos. The first three concerts will all feature guest conductors, while JPO Musical Director Marco Parisotto takes up the baton for the second half of the series.
Program 1: Thursday, September 6 and Sunday, September 9. “El Moldava” with Lanfranco Marcelletti conducting and guest pianist Elias Manzo. Works by Alejandro Basulto Martinez, Felix Mendelssohn, Eduardo Gamboa Bedrich Smetana.
Program 2: Thursday, September 27 and Sunday, September 30. “Foro Internacional De Musica Nueva Manuel Enriquez 2018” with Donato Cabrera conducting and guest violinist Iván Perez. Works by Manuel Enriquez, John Adams, Liliana Z. Del Rio.
Program 3: Thursday, October 4 and Sunday, October 7. “Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas” with Gabriel Chmura conducting and guest violinist Angelica Olivo. Works by Mieczysław Weinberg, Astor Piazzolla, Dimitri Shostakovich.
Program 4: Thursday, October 11 and Sunday, October 14. “Volodin Interpreta Brahms” with Marco Parisotto conducting and guest pianist Alexei Volodin. Works by Johannes Brahms (Piano Concerto No. 1), Schumann (Symphony No. 2, Op. 61).
Program 5: Thursday, October 25. “Rachmaninov Con Vladimir Petrov“ with Marco Parisotto conducting and guest pianist Vladimir Petrov. Works by Sergei Rachmaninov (Piano Concerto No. 2), Igor Stravinsky (The Rite of Spring).
Program 6: Thursday, November 1 and Sunday, November 4. “Las Sinfonias De Mahler: La Septima” with Marco Parisotto conducting. Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 7 (Song of the Night).
