Mariachi opera

Commissioned by the Houston Grand Opera, “Cruzar la cara de la luna” tells the story of Mexican migrants chasing the “American Cream.”  Written by Pepe Martínez y Leonard Foglia,  the opera has more than 50 performers on stage, as well as the Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán and Mariachi Juvenil de mi Tierra.

GR RECOMMENDS : Acrobatic ‘Nutcracker’

The Dalian Acrobatic Troupe from China gives several performances of “The Terracota Prince” – loosely based on the famous E.T.A. Hoffman tale. In this version, however, the prince is a Terracotta Warrior buried with China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, and the story is told not through ballet, but dazzling acrobatics and circus magic performed by the 45-member troupe.
