Jazz Festival shows announced

The 13th Jalisco Jazz Festival will be condensed into five days, running from Tuesday, September 24 to Saturday, September 28. 

The four main events are:

Galardon Tonica. Tuesday, September 24, 8 p.m. Inaugural concert featuring the Cuarteto Mexicano de Jazz. This is a benefit to raise funds for 33 young jazz students. Plus the presentation of the Tonica Award to pianist Francisco Tellez, who founded the Cuarteto in 1974. Tickets 80-150 pesos. Teatro Degollado.

Ruta del Jazz. Thursday, September 26, 6 p.m. Nine groups will be performing on different stages along this popular cultural and gastronomic corridor. Kitano Trío, Juan Manuel Ayala Quartet, Tzintzuni Varela, Nu Jazz Trío, Zairé Morales Quartet, La Cáscara, Fabb Jazz Trío, Brent Kimbrougt & Company, Jonathan Baroccio Quartet and Marcos Toledo Winter. Andador 20 de Noviembre, Zapopan centro.

Concierto Estelar. Friday, September 27, 8 p.m. Concert with Hernán Hetch x the Pression Quartet, a well-known Latin American band, formed of an Argentinean, Mexican, Cuban and American. Centro Cultural Constitucion.

Fiesta de Jazz. Saturday, September 28, 5 p.m. With Kneebody, Grizz Piña y Los Villanos, Cien Fuegos y Sols. Paseo Alcalde, Guadalajara centro.

The festival will also include a photographic exhibit in the foyer of the Degollado Theater, sponsored by the U.S. Consulate General in Guadalajara.  Three master classes will be held at the Edificio Arroniz, headquarters of the Jalisco Culture Ministry.
