Local ballet star sets up new cultural foundation

A new organization to develop talent in Mexico has been launched under the stewardship of famed Guadalajara-born ballet dancer Isaac Hernández,  a principal with the English National Ballet. Called the Federación de Industrias Creativas México (FICM), one of its major aims, according to a press release, is to “establish and strengthen links with other international organizations to create, produce, incentivize and position Mexican talent in the world.”

Said Hernandez: “I’m happy because we are one step closer to realizing the dream of unifying the different creative sectors in Mexico.”

The areas that the new organization will try to unify include dance, theater, music, design, fashion, fine arts, crafts, film, animation, photography, literature, and digital and urban art, among other disciplines.

The cofounders of the FICM are Hernandez’s sister Emilia, and Marie Thérèse Hermand de Arango, president and founder of the Asociación de Amigos del Museo de Arte Popular.

“I’m thrilled to be considered their (Isaac and Emilia’s) friend and to share their dreams and dedication to Mexico,” commented Hermand de Arango.

In related news, Hernández hasn’t given up hope of bringing the English National Ballet to Mexico this year, and 2020 will also see the release of the Netflix movie  “Alguien Tiene que Morir”, in which Hernández has an important role.
