With his return to Guadalajara to play in the 2022 Festival Cultural de Mayo, Vadym Kholodenko will undoubtedly attract attention due to his proficiency and the current high profile of his birthplace in Kyiv, Ukraine. But Kholodenko has also gained attention from a tragedy that unfolded years ago in Texas.
Kholodenko began performing in public at the tender age of 13 and in 2005, not yet 20 years old, went to study in Russia, where he was strongly influenced by his adored teacher Vera Gornostaeva. In 2009, he married a Russian pianist, Sofya Tsygankova.
