Invited soloists—finally—to highlight orchestra season

Distinguished musicians will perform in Guadalajara this summer—coming from points as near as Guadalajara and as distant as New York City—to add their finesse to the first programs of the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (OFJ) that will utilize guest players since March 2020, when the pandemic began to undercut culture here. 

pg16Besides the inclusion of six accomplished performers in the new season, another much-missed face who will grace the stage of the Degollado Theater is Hector Guzmán, back to conduct Thursday, June 9 and Sunday, June 12. Guzman was the OFJ music director from 2004 to 2010 and only returned to Guadalajara to conduct mariachi groups playing with the orchestra. Before and since his stint in Guadalajara, he has directed several regional symphony orchestras in Texas.
