Alfaro sees GDL as film production hub

During his current trip to Spain and Italy, Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro visited the Madrid Content City, the audiovisual complex that hosts Netflix’s first European production hub.

After the tour of the Netflix studios, Alfaro said he would like to replicate the facility in Guadalajara and make the city an entrainment hub for Latin America.

In 2019, Spain’s Secuoya Studios teamed with publishing giant Planeta to expand the Madrid Content City from its current operating area of 22,000 square meters to 140,000 square meters, that will make it the second biggest film/TV production hub in Europe after the U.K.’s Pinewood Studios.

Alfaro said his government is developing “strategic alliances” in Spain to make the concept a reality, including an “advanced working relationship” with Sequoia.
