LLT opener involves audience participation

Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) is serving up some culinary comedy in the first play of its 47th season.

The all-volunteer organization opens with Caroline Smith’s “The Kitchen Witches” on Saturday, October 1.

Director Roger Tredway, a nine-year LLT regular, has chosen a cast replete with veteran players: Russell Mack, Graham Miller and Diana Rowland, who is guaranteed to bring her edgy timing to the comedy. The newcomer is Ann Drake, with just a few months at Lakeside but taking to life here like a duck to water.

The story is a sort of “Ethel and Lucy” deal centering on two mature cable-access cooking show hostesses who have hated each other for 30 years. Things get sticky when they are thrown together on a television show called (appropriately) “The Kitchen Witches.” Fortunately (or unfortunately) the show becomes a great success.

This show brings the audience into the story as they become part of the TV show, so participation from the seats will be encouraged.

Tickets for “The Kitchen Witches” are 200 pesos and will go on sale Thursday and Friday, September 29 and 30, 10 a.m. to noon. The box office is open each day during the run of the play (through October 9) at the same time and opens one hour before the 7:30 p.m. curtain.

Season ticket holders who are not going to use their seats should call the theater at 766-0954 and leave a message so the box office manager will know that the seats are freed up.

Arrive early for the best parking and time to enjoy schmoozing old and new friends. The Angel Terrace full service bar opens at 6:30 p.m.
