Entertainment will abound at the 10th Annual Feria Maestros del Arte running Friday November 18 through Sunday, November 20 at the Chapala Club de Yates (near the fish restaurants in Chapala).
The biggest attraction will be Mariachi Femenil Mujer Latina from Guadalajara. The all-girl mariachi band will put on a special performance at noon on Saturday, November 19. While honoring the tradition of Mexican mariachi music, the ladies bring a special feminine touch that seems to enrich the genre.
The Mexican “rebozo” will be the main attraction at a fashion and music show on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 12:30 p.m. This Mexican “shawl” can be worn a hundred different ways from the practical to the decorative.
The Ballet de Chapala will perform regional folkloric dancing on Saturday at 2 p.m. Trio Ajijic takes the stage at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Trio Ajijic returns on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. and Ballet de Chapala at 11:30 a.m. Singer Jacqueline Zapata holds forth at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday the famous Ballet Folklorico de Ixtlahuacan de los Membrillos takes over.
The fair opens at 10 a.m. each day and will be chock full of the best Mexican crafts, art, wine tasting and regional dancing and music. The Yacht Club will serve a buffet (120 pesos for a complete meal) and a snack bar will offer hamburgers, hot dogs, burritos and other snacky stuff all day long. Don’t miss the tequila tasting by Arette Tequila and cocktails in and outside of the Yacht Club.
Admission is 50 pesos. Go and have fun while you support Mexican culture and the country’s fine artisans.
