Opening at Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) on January 12 is “Too Soon for Daisies” a cryptic, comedic mystery by W. Dinner and W. Morum, directed by Sally Jo Bartlett.
The cast is an interesting one with some newbies, and, if you’ll excuse the expression, some oldies whose presence on the LLT stage will be enthusiastically welcomed by seasoned theater-goers.
This cast includes Anne Drake, Suzanne Forrest, Phyllis Silverman, John Foster, Cydney Supan McMinn, Jon DeYoung, Douglas Pinkerton and Orry Robb.The story is about three eccentric English ladies, all escapees from a nursing home, who take up residence and housekeeping in what they believe to be an abandoned property. Though lightly told with lots of laughs, it has an undercurrent of the sinister. It seems that the property may not be abandoned when someone claiming to be the owner turns up and then croaks. What to do with the body? Things get sticky …especially the body at the bottom of an unused well.
The story line also draws reference to Guy Fawkes, whom most British schoolchildren know as the Catholic revolutionary who led an unsuccessful plan, “the Gunpowder Plot,” to blow up King James I and Parliament on November 5, 1605.
Those lucky enough to hold opening night tickets for “Too Soon for Daisies” will receive a red carpet welcome and a complimentary glass of wine with the cast after the show.
Tickets go on sale for 200 pesos each on Thursday and Friday, January 10 and 11, 10 a.m. to noon, and every day during the run at that time except on Sunday. The box office will also open one hour before curtain for each performance (evening performance curtain is at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees begin at 3 p.m.
