The Latin America premiere of the documentary “Nava Nagila the Movie” will close the fourth annual Jewish Film Festival on Sunday, February 10, 3 p.m. at the Movie Space Cinema in the Centro Laguna Mall.
Starring Harry Belafonte, Glen Campbell, Connie Francis, The Klezmatics, Danny Maseng and Leonard Nimoy, “Hava Nagila: The Movie” relates the definitive, glorious (and musical) story of how the Hebrew song “Hava Nagila” (Let Us Rejoice) became the signature theme of Jewish life. Despite having become truly universal in appeal, the song never lost either its Jewish soul or origin. The film features interviews, as well as performances of the song by Belafonte, Francis, Danny Kaye, Bob Dylan, Lena Horne, Regina Spektor and Chubby Checker. Tickets cost 60 pesos, with a portion of proceeds going to the Tepehua Centro Comunitario.
