Judy Garland and Joan Rivers at local cabaret

In the Judy Show playing at El Piano Rojo, internationally acclaimed impersonator Michael Holmes combines outrageous comedy and great musical standards in an hysterical parody of Judy Garland that will have you begging for more.

Holmes seemingly channels Garland in her 1964 television variety show, which played host to some of the greatest stars of Hollywood. Carol Channing, Mae West, Bette Davis, Billie Holiday, Katherine Hepburn, Pearl Bailey, Peggy Lee and Tallulah Bankhead are also superbly rendered by the versatile Holmes.

He sings many of your favorite standards including “The Trolley Song,” “Hello Dolly,” “God Bless The Child,” “Over the Rainbow” and many more. Holmes is accompanied on the piano by award-winning Michigan pianist Mark Kahny. This duo wowed crowds the past two seasons at El Piano Rojo’s sister cabaret, The Palm in Puerto Vallarta.

In addition to being one of the most sought after celebrity impressionists and cabaret entertainers in the United States, Holmes is a premier jazz vocalist, releasing his second jazz CD this year.

The Judy Show runs Thursday, February 14 to Sunday, February 17, and Thursday, February 21 to Saturday, February 23 at 7 p.m.  Consider staying longer on the last two nights, when a second show at 9 p.m. focuses on Holmes’ own voice and jazz tunes.

And The Piano is also introducing to Mexico the gorgeous comedian Tony Tripoli, head writer of “Fashion Police” on E Entertainment.  If you have ever seen that zany, clever show, you know you are in for a few shocks and some deep belly laughs.

A Hollywood insider who spends his time working with the funniest women in the world, Tripoli knows intimately the foibles, longings, dating dramas and more of Joan, Kathy Griffin and numerous other celebs.  And, he warns, he plans to “dish about numerous other hilarious topics that are currently pissing me off.”

Among Tony’s other gigs are being Joan Rivers’ Opening Act, Co-Star of “Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best” on WEtv (Season 3 premieres February 24), Co-Star on “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List,” and Guest Star on “Two and a Half Men.”

The Tony Tripoli Show runs for two nights only, Friday, February 16 and Saturday, February 17 at 9 p.m.

Tickets for both shows may be purchased online at www.elpianorojo.com or at the door.  The Box Office opens two hours before show time.  El Piano Rojo is an intimate, 70-seat nightclub located at the corner of Morelos and 16 de Septiembre, one block up from the Ajijic pier.
