Sunday dancing at Chapala plaza

Get on your feet and move to a Latin beat. Chapala’s office of culture is sponsoring Noches de Danzón, an on-going program of dance events held on Sunday evening at the central plaza, starting at 7 p.m.

The events showcase danzón, the elegantly sensuous and slow-moving ballroom style dance that originated in Cuba in the 19th century and quickly spread to Mexico and other Latin American nations. It remains a popular genre among mature adults.

The weekly programs include free instruction for beginners to pick up the easy-to-follow dance steps.
