El Piano Rojo presents Chi Chi Rones

Female impersonator Chi Chi Rones begins an indefinite run on Sundays with “The Chi Chi Rones Show,” beginning May 12 at El Piano Rojo in Ajijic.

Audiences will remember Chi Chi Rones, who played numerous times at El Piano Rojo this past winter season, with her shows “The Burro and Churro Tour” and “Aye! Chihuahua!”

“The Chi Chi Rones Show” is an all-English singing, dancing and speaking show, and promises new songs every week for return audiences.  She has a flair for the theatrical with her comical and poignant storytelling.

Chi Chi impersonates many icons of a bygone era – Judy Garland, Bette Davis, Billie Holiday, Eartha Kitt and Shirley Bassey, just to name a few.  No lip sync here, and Chi Chi’s impressions are uncanny.

In addition to playing Ajijic this past year, Chi Chi also found herself in Puerto Vallarta, where she brought her successful shows to The Palm Cabaret and Bar, a staple venue in Vallarta for premier headline talent.

Chi Chi Rones (aka Peter Garcia) has also written for major U.S. television networks.  In 2006, he won an Emmy for PBS’ “Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks” in the category of Outstanding Children’s Animated Program.
