Viva La Musica presents the fifth and final concert of its 2013 summer series on Sunday, October, 13, 4 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church.
A talented quartet featuring violist Robert Nelson from the United States, cellist Yalissa Cruz Espino from Mexico, pianist Tabia Tourbyleff from Russia and violinist Konstantin Ziumbilov, also from Russia, will perform two pieces for piano and strings composed by Brahms and Mozart.
Nelson is the principal violist in the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra and a professor at the University of Guadalajara (UdG), as well as at his own music school, La Casa de Musica Berbeyer.Ziumbilov moved to Mexico in 1993 and is also a music teacher at the UdG. He has recorded numerous CDs and has been a member of the Ahrinar Ensemble since 2012.
Cruz Espino studied in Veracruz and Santiago de Compostela, Spain and has participated in three San Miguel de Allende Chamber Music Festivals. In 2009 she became a founding member of the Cuerdas Revueltas quartet and in 2012 was invited to be part of the trio SiMaYa.
Tourbyleff gives piano lessons at the Escuela de Musica del Instituto de Cultura de Zapopan and the Casa de Musica Berbeyer. She is also a member of the Ahrinar Ensemble.
The group will perform Mozart’s “Piano Quartet No. 2 in E-flat major, KV493” and Brahms’ “Piano Quartet in C Minor, Opus 60.”
Tickets for the concert cost 300 pesos for the public at large and 200 pesos for Viva members. They are available at the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) on Thursdays and Fridays, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Diane Pearl Colecciones, the Auditorio de la Ribera and at the door. Music students may attend for free.
There will be an open bar starting at 3.30 p.m. and during the intermission.
