Faces of courage in San Juan Cosala

Every Thursday morning Jerry Wolfe (right) and his partner Hal Coats can be found at Viva Mexico Restaurant where they donate their time preparing and distributing 90 dispensas of beans, rice, pasta and oats to needy residents in San Juan Cosala.

This program, Operation Feed, is funded and operated entirely from donations of time and money from volunteers such as Wolfe.

Wolfe is an avid photographer who has recently turned this passion into capturing the faces of the Mexican people he serves. His black-and-white portraits of these modest and humble people can be viewed as personal expressions of courage in the face of their significant hardship.

On Sunday March 16, from 3 to 5 p.m., some 15 of Wolfe’s photos will be displayed at Viva Mexico.  There will be a reception in his honor and a few brief stories will be told about the determination of the people he has captured on film.

The public is invited to this exhibit and Wolfe will be donating 50 percent of the proceeds from photographs purchased to Operation Feed.
