Spooky 'mockumentary’ set for world premiere in Ajijic

Rabid Chihuahua Productions has announced plans for a red carpet celebration to unveil the movie “Thriller in Ajijic,” set for Sunday, August 24, 5:30 p.m. at the Ajijic Plaza.

An awards ceremony and the premiere screening of the film will take place afterwards at Club Exotica salon, located behind Restaurant El Jardin.

Admission to the showing will cost 150 pesos per person, with a third of the price set aside for donation to Cruz Roja Chapala.

Tickets are now on sale at Diane Pearl Colecciones, Colon at Ocampo; Mia’s Boutique, Carretera Oriente 7A; and the Red Cross table booth at the Lake Chapala Society.

Director John Ward describes the locally made feature-length indie film as an entertaining “mockumentary” that revolves around the organization and staging of lakeside’s version of the annual worldwide Thrill the World flashmob dance event. A secondary story line touches on a Mexican family with plans to send their son on an important and perilous journey.

Ward tapped local talent to assemble a huge cast that includes experienced actors, amateur performers and close to 100 Thriller zombie dancers. The movie’s running time is one hour and 40 minutes.
