Aspiring young lakeside artists win prizes

Since 2011, the Feria Maestros del Arte has sponsored a contest for the Lake Chapala Society Children’s Art Program.  This year’s theme was “masks and/or faces.” The contest was open to anyone aged 17 and under.

The judges were Barbara Passarello (President, Ajijic Society of the Arts), Beverly Kephart (President, Niños Incapacitados) and Terry Vidal (Executive Director, Lake Chapala Society).

The first prize of 500 pesos was awarded to 16-year-old Karina Gutierrez. Alonso Romero Ibarra (15) won 300 pesos for second place, while the third prize of 200 pesos went to Bélen Sarai Sanchez Rodriguez (11).   Krishna Estrada (16), Saúl Ulises Sánchez Garcia (14) and Angela de la Torre Avalos (13) received honorable mentions and 100 pesos each.
