Broadway is coming to Lakeside Little Theatre

Following the success Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) has enjoyed in bringing London’s National Theatre Live, The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet to Ajijic, the next milestone will be screening Broadway stage productions in the culturally active village.

LLT President Peter Luciano and Playhouse Manager Carolyn Cothran initiated and facilitated discussions between BroadwayHD in New York and CulturArte in Mexico City for the distribution of Broadway stage plays throughout Mexico, Latin America and South America.

Lakeside Little Theatre was subsequently selected the Lake Chapala area venue. As a consequence, LLT will begin showing both current and vintage Broadway stage plays at the theater using high-definition technology.

The first BroadwayHD play to be presented is tentatively scheduled be the Tony Award winning musical “She Loves Me” in the spring. Exact dates and ticket sales information will be published in this newspaper and LLT’s website in the next few weeks.

The addition of projection productions from National Theatre Live at LLT has been a financial boost to the theater, allowing for many much-needed facility and technical renovations and improvements.

Further, the popularity of these productions has been evidenced by excellent attendance and a significant increase in LLT membership since their introduction.  Luciano believes that the addition of Broadway productions will continue to advance this positive trend.

So as to remain focused on its primary mission to bring stage play to lakeside, the LLT board of directors has elected to cease presentations of The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet. LLT will continue offering a full season of locally produced live stage plays supplemented by projected professional stage play productions from London and Broadway.
