Lakeside’s artists open their studio doors

Art lovers will be intrigued to explore the inner sancta of lakeside artists during this weekend’s sixth annual Open Studios tour program organized by the Ajijic Society of the Arts (ASA).

Doors open Saturday February 25 and Sunday, February 26, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at numerous locations in Ajijic, San Antonio and Riberas del Pilar, where 57 artists and crafts people will greet visitors while showing off their works and creative talents.

Unlike day-to-day gallery hopping, Open Studios lets you engage directly with the artists to learn about the techniques, styles and philosophies they apply in their artistic pursuits. Discover a full gamut of media and methods employed in painting, sketching, collage, mixed media, photography, sculpture, ceramics glass, textiles and jewelry. And prepare to purchase the treasures that appeal to enhance your surroundings and lifestyle.

Pick up an Open Studios passport for 50 pesos at Diane Pearl Colecciones, the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) or the entrance to any venue. The printed brochure has a full listing of participating exhibitors, along with a centerfold map to guide you to each well-marked studio address. Get to destinations on your own or take advantage of shuttle service departing from the Ajijic branch of Actinver Bank.

Proceeds raised from the tours help ASA continue its long-standing financial support to the LCS Children’s Art Program.
