Lake Chapala Chorale presents four free concerts April 1 through 4

The Lake Chapala Chorale is back at it, popping up all over the area with their happy flashmob music. You may have heard them singing “We Are the World” at the recent International Brotherhood Festival in Ajijic, or the Villas Infantil fundraiser. Watch for them around town, they’re liable to show up anywhere.

Director Cindy Paul says her newly formed group is offering a special series of four choral concerts, all free, from Saturday, April 1 to Tuesday, April 4.

“We’re kind of the people’s choir of Lakeside,” she says. “We never charge for our performances, but we’re happy to receive donations when they come. We don’t charge our singers for their sheet music either! For us, it’s all about spreading joy through the power of uplifting music.”

This spring concert will take the listener to a place of pure inspiration. It’s full of variety and pathos, and includes some of the most beautiful music ever written, from “Shenandoah” to “Some Enchanted Evening.”

Four identical concerts, Songs of Longing and Inspiration, will be presented: April 1, 6 p.m. at the Little Chapel by the Lake; April 2, 4 p.m. at the Ajijic Cultural Center; April 3, 7 p.m. at the Lake Chapala Presbyterian Church and April 4, 7 p.m. at the Chapala Train Station.
