Rising star cellist Jose Gregorio Nieto will perform with pianist Marita Zimmer and clarinetist Charles Nath in a Viva la Musica concert Friday, March 3, 4:30 p.m.
Nieto was born in Venezuela and studied cello at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. He subsequently won first prize at the Riocello International Competition in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has performed as a soloist in Greece, Italy and Russia, and at the music festival in Aspen, Colorado.
The Zimmer-Nieto-Nath Trio will perform Beethoven’s Trio for Piano, Violin and Cello in B-flat Major, Op. 11; Schumann’s Fantasy Pieces for Clarinet and Piano, Op. 73; and Brahms’ Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano in A minor, Op. 114.
The concert will take place in a private home in upper Ajijic with a champagne reception at 4 p.m. and the concert at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Lake Chapala Society on Thursday and Friday mornings, or by contacting Rosemary Keeling at 766-1801.
