Visionary artist brings show to Ajijic

Rising visionary artist Eos Otherre comes to lakeside next week as guest exhibitor at Efren González Studio-Gallery, Calle Marcos Castellanos 7, a half block south of Ajijic’s San Andrés church.

Eos is a multidisciplinary artist who explores spiritual and mystical themes through diverse techniques in oil, watercolor, drawing, xylography and digital graphics.

Born Eos Uriel Álvarez in 1989 in San Luis Potosí, he started painting in watercolor at age seven. He began his formal training at the Centro de las Artes San Luis Potosi Centenario. He currently resides in Guadalupe, Zacatecas where he is studying for a degree in digital graphic design at the Universidad Interamericana para el Desarrollo.

In 2015, Eos earned the State of Zacatecas Youth Award in the subcategory of visual and popular plastic arts. So far, his works have been displayed in 18 one-man shows and more than 35 collective exhibitions. He has been showcased by galleries throughout this country, including Mexico City, Monterrey, Mérida, Mexicali and Guadalajara, as well as San Luis Potosí and Zacatecas. He has also participated in numerous alternative festivals abroad, such as the Festival Orgánica in Costa Rica; Cosmic Convergence, Atitlan, Guatemala; Parallel Universe, Pratigi, Brazil; Gadelica Festival, Galicia, Spain; and Fes Boom, Lisbon, Portugal.

Visionary art is aimed at going beyond the physical world to portray a wider vision of awareness. The purpose is to show what lies beyond the boundary of the sight, tapping on the images of dreams, trances and different states of consciousness that transcend regular modes of perception.
