Harp fest show must go on!

Like so many other local cultural activities, Chapala’s 18th annual Encuentro de Arpas, Salterios y Más has hit a Covid-19 stumbling block.

However, the notorious virus isn’t a match for the willpower of the determined artists who normally gather in early June to put on a summer music fest on the grounds of the Centro Cultural González Gallo.

On the premise that the show must go on, the delightful musical marathon will be presented in a virtual format to be transmitted Wednesday, June 3 on facebook.com/paginaquesiselee starting at 1 p.m.

The line-up will feature performers from Chapala, Guadalajara, Guerrero, Veracruz, Cancun, Mexico City, and as far off as the United States, Venezuela and Columbia.

The program will also include live raffles and other surprises to keep viewers entertained.

Local music lovers who are accustomed to attending the Encuentro in person might want to repeat the practice of setting up lounge chairs, and popping out beer, wine, cocktails and nibbles as they follow along on this year’s concert on their electronic devices.
