Huge art show marks Ajijic Cultural Center anniversary

An exhibit of works by more than 50 local artists will highlight the celebration of the 17th anniversary of the Centro Cultural Ajijic (CCA).

pg11aThe art show opens Saturday, August 21, with an inaugural ceremony starting at 5 p.m., remaining on view until September 5.

Complementing the anniversary festivities, a number of native-born artisans will display their hand-crafted wares on the esplanade outside the cultural center on Saturday and Sunday, August 21 and 22, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The CCA venue was originally built in the 1970s, operating for several years as the village market. It was utilized at different times in subsequent years as an events center, a locale for secondary school classes, and a public art gallery.
