‘Shirley Valentine’ takes the stage at BRAVO!

Willy Russell’s life-affirming, one-character comedy “Shirley Valentine” tells the story of a bored, unappreciated, middle-aged Liverpool housewife and her sudden decision to escape loneliness with a holiday in Greece.

pg13bSays BRAVO! Theatre owner and show director Jayme Littlejohn: “Choosing a play right now was an interesting process. I love doing shows that are different and unexpected, but still have a human touch to which we can all relate. Shirley Valentine is an old chestnut, but fits the state of our world in so many ways that I am sure this show will resonate with us all.”

Littlejohn said staging this play provided a great opportunity to lure actor Vanessa McCaffrey back to Lakeside.

Born in London, now living in Florida, McCaffrey has performed at the National Theatre and for the Phoenix Players, at London’s Albert Hall and the Paris Olympia as a member of “Up With People.”
