Full season forthcoming at Bravo Theatre

Besides its reputation for thought-provoking plays, says Jayme Littlejohn, the Bravo! Theatre is known for having enlisted loyal friends to pitch in for a yearlong construction effort when Bravo relocated to Riberas del Pilar just before the pandemic.

pg24Her supporters’ commitment is what prompted Littlejohn to resist the urge to throw in the towel as Covid-19 dragged on and her landlord gave her very little relief, despite the fact that Bravo was mostly closed and she had to use the proceeds from another business to pay her  rent. (“One month I got a break, but I mostly paid the rent on the theatre” she laments. “I even had to put off some medical things.”)

But the good news is that Littlejohn is determined to embark on a full season come September. Bravo’s closure since March 2020 had been on-again-off-again, with short-lived attempts at reopening. But “I can’t continue dipping my toe in the water and then retreating,” she explains. Littlejohn added that her concern for the health of both actors and audience (and worrisome observations about other local theater presentations during the Omicron surge) spurred the brevity of Bravo’s revivals.
