Local songstress to give one-woman show at BRAVO!

“Without A Song,” local singer Wanda White’s one-woman show, will take you on a trip down memory lane, starting (or ending) with that particular 1929 tune. A favorite of Wanda’s mother, it has been covered by many singers, including Frank Sinatra and Perry Como to name but two.

There will be show tunes, funny songs, sad songs from composers such as Hoagie Carmichael, Jerome Kern, Garth Brooks and Richard Rodgers—tunes that may carry some into their own reverie of eras past. All are songs that reflect meaningful moments for the singer.

Growing up in Atlanta, Georgia, Wanda’s home was filled with music. Her mother had a lovely soprano voice and her father, though unable to carry a tune, had a true love of music. Her parents’ influenced her in their choices of what might now be considered “old standards,” including musical theater, country and gospel music and hymns, as well as piano.

“My sister and I both took piano lessons starting at an early age,” Wanda says. “Although I didn’t love the lessons I am grateful that the lessons provided me with the opportunity to read music.”

Her parents encouragement led Wanda to participate in the church choir and every school music program that was offered.
