Annual Film Festival runs this Sunday and Thursday

Democrats Abroad Lake Chapala continues its 10th Annual “Movies That Matter” Film Festival this week.

And for 2023, there are also Thursday screenings during the festival. See ad on page 11. Mark your calendar for both days!

• Sunday, March 12, “Till” powerfully covers the horrific lynching of 14-year-old Emmett Till in 1955—and his mother’s relentless fight to expose the racism behind his murder. President Biden recently praised “Till” at a special White House screening for civil rights leaders, historians and families of victims of hate-fueled violence.

• Thursday, March 16, “The Little Foxes,” nominated for nine Oscars and starring the great Bette Davis, will be screened. This 1941 Lillian Hellman classic probes a family’s ruthless greed and schemes to get rich by exploiting poor Southerners.

Both screenings start at 1:30 p.m. Buy tickets at the box office at Cine+Lago Theater in Plaza Bugambilias in Ajijic.  Proceeds fund Lakeside Voter Assistance programs. For details about screenings and season pass savings, email This email address is being protected from spambots.
