The Lake Chapala Orchestra (LCO) invites music lovers to an afternoon of rich Slavic color and sweeping Romanticism with Slavic Rhapsody, a special concert on Saturday, March 28, 2 p.m. at the Robert Kleffel Auditorium, located at the Instituto Tecnológico de Jalisco Chapala, Libramiento Chapala–Ajijic 200.
The centerpiece of the program is Antonín Dvořák’s Cello Concerto, one of the most beloved and powerful works in the cello repertoire. The soloist for this performance will be Christian Jimenez, the acclaimed Principal Cellist of the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra, celebrated for his expressive artistry and commanding technique.
Under the baton of LCO Artistic Director and Conductor Michael Reason, the program also features two evocative works inspired by Slavic and Russian musical traditions: Alexander Borodin’s In the Steppes of Central Asia, a lush tone poem depicting the vast Eurasian landscape, and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Sinfonietta on Russian Themes, a vibrant and colorful orchestral showpiece.
