Frida returns for 24 hours in new Met opera

Get ready for the Met Opera’s debut production of El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego (The Last Dream of Frida and Diego). This celebrated magical realist Spanish-language opera brings iconic Mexican artists Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera together for one final reunion.

The plot follows a dying Rivera, who longs to see Kahlo once more. On the Day of the Dead, Frida returns to the living world for 24 hours to explore their tumultuous relationship and artistic legacies.

The opera will be retransmitted in both Guadalajara and at Lakeside. In Guadalajara, it will be shown at the Conjunto Santander de las Artes on Saturday, May 30, at 11 a.m. At the Lakeside Little Theatre, screenings will take place on Sunday, June 14, and Monday, June 15, both at 4 p.m.
