Mariaceli Navarro, an accomplished Venezuelan piccolo player, teams up this summer with Tim Welch, well known Chapala area pianist, in a series of local concerts culminating in an international competition in San Diego, California.

Ixtlahuacan de los Membrillos is one of the numerous Mexican towns that embrace Santo Santiago (St. James the Greater) as patron saint.

Renowned classical guitarist Francisco Bribiesca will appear as the featured musical performer during the first week of activities for Sincrónico, Chapala’s month-long contemporary arts festival.

Pleasing strains of traditional Mexican music will fill the air throughout next week as musicians from near and far congregate in Chapala to engage in the 14th Encuentro de Arpas, Salterios y Mas. 

The works of renowned sculptor Miguel Miramontes Carmona, a longtime Chapala resident  who died in October of last year at the age of 97, will be exhibited at the Centro Cultural Gonzalez Gallo, with the inauguration slated for Saturday, May 28, noon.
