Tadeo

Guadalajara artist Navarro Tadeo will exhibit his unique art at Galeria Sol Mexicano from January 14 to February 4.

His work is often described as having a pre-Columbian essence that is transformed with contemporary elements. Tadeo gives us an artistic vision full of symbolism with unique sculpture and paintings full of style and color. His work has often been singled out in the last 40 years for its breathtaking color and insight. The exhibit here features a very tall sculpture representing the Aztec god Tlaloc, as if carved from stone. His three-dimensional relief works, originally sculpted form clay are then finished in fiberglass. The work is then finished to exactly replicate stone.

The opening reception is set for Saturday, January 14, 3-6 p.m. at Colon 13 in Ajijic.

Guitar

Dynamic guitarist Paco Renteria and his band Free Play return to Auditorio del la Ribera del Lago on Friday, January 20 and Saturday, January 21, 7:30 p.m.

He will play hits from his 2011 World Tour, including “Gypsy Rock,” “Nights in Seville,” “La Malaguena” and “The Legend of Zoro,” which he wrote for the movie.

Tickets are 150 and 250 pesos and available at the Lake Chapala Society from 10 a.m. to noon, as well as Diane Pearl’s Colecciones, Charter Club Tous, Fiaga Boutique and the Auditorium.

These are benefit concerts for the Auditorium Upgrade Project. Get there early for a drink or two before the show.
