Public concerts

Culminating the first annual Easter Music Orchestra Camp, Maestro Dani Medeles will present the orchestra developed during the camp in two public concerts.

The first will be on the grounds of San Andres Catholic Church in Ajijic, Friday, April 13, 8 p.m.

The second will be on Saturday, April 14, 2 p.m. at the Lake Chapala Society.  A cash bar will be open for the Saturday concert.

Both performances are open free to the public, but donations will be gladly accepted. The participating musicians are 18 to 24 years old.

ASA

Members of the Ajijic Society of the Arts (ASA) exhibit their creations on Ajijic’s principal plaza on Sunday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Expect to see paintings in varied media, jewelry, fabric art, photography and more, all done by local artists. It’s definitely worth a stop.

Those interested in joining ASA should turn up on the first Monday of the month (the next one is May 7), 10 a.m. at La Bodega Restaurant, (16 de Septiembre 124, Ajijic). Get there early. The coffee’s ready at 9:30 a.m.

Getting naked

The Naked Stage Theater presents “The Brighton Beach Memoirs” on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 20, 21 and 22, at Plaza de la Ribera (Rio Bravo 10, west end of Ajijic). Curtain is at 4 p.m. on each day.

Neil Simon’s semi-autobiographical play set in Brooklyn, New York shares the joys and difficulties of a middle-class Jewish family in the 1930s shortly after the Great Depression and before World War II. Doesn’t sound very funny? Just wait till you hear it. The family relationships are so familiar that Simon could be writing about your family and the lines reflect his quintessential humor.

Phyllis Silverman is directing a talented cast of Kevin O’Byrne, Don Chaloner, Alex Maidan, Shirley Appelbaum, Anne Drake, Liz White and Helena Feldstein. Call 766-5986 or email alandoley@gmail for theater reservations.

The San Pedro Restaurant and Bar will be open.
