The eclectic and creative presentation uses original, pre-Hispanic style puppets and is a fundraiser for Butterflies en Mexico (BEM).

Ballet de Jalisco

The Lakeside Friends of Ballet de Jalisco hold a fundraiser on Wednesday, April 26, 4-7 p.m., at the Ajijic home of Blair Ferguson.

All proceeds of this elegant affair will be used to bring in a visiting master coach to work with the members of Jalisco’s only professional classical dance troupe for an entire week.

The Jalisco government does not provide funds for this valuable additional training – a common feature of most major dance companies throughout the world.

This event will offer attendees the opportunity to meet and talk with the dancers, their director and teachers, while sipping champagne to a background of live music. There will be a demonstration of a ballet practice called barre – part of the daily routine of these talented dancers. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions about the company and its future goals.

The afternoon will end with a silent auction of gifts from artists, restaurants and local merchants, as well as a raffle. Tickets, 450 pesos, are available at Mia’s Boutique and Diane Pearl. Naked Stage

“Four Places” by Joel Drake Johnson is the next production of The Naked Stage Readers’ Theatre.

When Peggy’s two adult children take her out for lunch, they quietly begin to take apart her life. With excruciating patience, the playwright lets two middle-aged siblings and their elderly mother lead one another – with the best intentions – to a place where forgiveness, understanding, and even love may no longer be possible.

The play is directed by Pierre Blackburn and cast members are Pam Pettis, Chris L’Ecluse, Deanne Barber and Clay McAdam. Performances are scheduled Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 28, 29 and 30, 4 p.m. A donation of 100 pesos is welcomed. The box office and bar open at 3 p.m. Reservations are recommended at This email address is being protected from spambots.
