A group of 16 artists from Zacatecas are presenting their work at the Centro Cultural Ajijic.

LLT
Lakeside Little Theatre hosts the National Theatre Live screening of “Peter Pan,” based on the works by J.M. Barrie, Saturday, October 14, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 15, 3 p.m. Tickets, 250 pesos, are available at the LLT box office Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to noon.
Naked Stage audition
Director Michael Warren will open auditions for the Naked Stage Readers’ Theatre presentation of “Copenhagen” Wednesday, October 11, 10 a.m. at the Naked Stage Theatre. Warren is looking for two men and one woman for the play, with show dates November 24-26. “Copenhagen” focuses on a meeting in Nazi-occupied Denmark by Nobel Prize winning physicists Niels Bohr and Werner Heisenberg at Bohr’s home. They had collaborated on the Copenhagen Interpretation of quantum physics. Bohr was Danish and Heisenberg was German, so from Bohr’s point of view, Heisenberg was both a friend and an enemy. No one knows what they said to each other on that day in 1941. After the war, even they couldn’t agree on it. This dramatic play by Michael Frayn imagines that fateful meeting.

Film aficionados
The Lake Chapala Society (LCS ) hosts a weekly film for members at the Sala, Thursdays 2 p.m.
October 12, the Austrian film “Farewell to Europe ” (2017) will be featured. This movie charts the years of exile in the life of the famous Jewish-Austrian writer, Stefan Zweig, his inner struggle for the “right attitude” toward the events in war-torn Europe, and his search for a new home. Based on actual events.
Opera bus trips
Viva La Musica hosts Saturday trips to HD live screenings of Live from the Met opera at the Teatro Diana in Guadalajara. Buses depart at 10:30 a.m.

Zombies
Rehearsals for the Thrill the World Ajijic 2017 zombie dance fundraiser continue each Saturday, 1-3 p.m., and Wednesday, 5-7 p.m., at the Centro Cultural Ajijic through October 27. No zombie or dancing experience is necessary. This year, Tepehua Community Center and the School for Special Needs will be the recipients of the funds generated by this fun event.

Sunday November 19: Gustav Mahler, “Resurrection Symphony,” conducted by Marco Parisotto, with soprano Nicole Heaston, contralto Cassandra Zoe Velasco, and the Zapopan Municipal Choir directed by Timothy Ruff Welch. The bus leaves at 3:30 p.m. for the 6 p.m. concert. No dinner stop.
Sunday November 26: Operatic Gala directed by Marco Parisotto features pieces from Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Bellini’s Norma, Puccini’s La Boheme and Turandot. Nicole Heaston, soprano, and Lorenzo Decaro, tenor, perform. Bus departs 10:30 am.

Showstoppers
Los Cantantes del Lago’s perennially popular concert Showstoppers 15 will be held Sunday, October 22, 4 p.m. (cash bar at 3 p.m.) at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Riberas del Pilar. This concert features members and friends of Los Cantantes performing solos, duets and small group numbers of Broadway and non-Broadway “showstoppers” with a bit of comedy, some drama and a lot of fun. The show features new and returning singers in all new songs. Emcee Barbara Pruitt will be on hand and the inimitable Maestro Timothy G.
