pg22aLLT main stage event

Lakeside Little Theatre continues with its presentation of two one-act comedies, “The Real Inspector Hound” and “After Magritte,” through Sunday, December 15. The plays, by Tom Stoppard, are directed by Randy Warren and assisted by Suki O’Brien.

The first comedy, “The Real Inspector Hound,” is a play within a play merging two second-rate critics and a cliché-ridden whodunit filled with multiple surprises, murderous lunatics, and melodramatic lechery. A classic of the English comic tradition, this play weaves together parody, pastiche and punning to create a wonderfully entertaining and ingenious one-act comedy.

The second play, “After Magritte,” is an absurdist, surrealist and comic one-act play with a kooky trio: Scotland Yard, a minstrel show and a tuba!

Friday, December 13, and Saturday, December 14, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 15, 4 p.m. Tickets, 300 pesos, are available at the LLT box office one hour before curtain, except Sunday. Good and evil onstage

Bare Stage Theatre presents “Paradise Lost,” by Erin Shields, Friday to Sunday, December 27 to 29.

What is good, what is evil and what lies in between? “Paradise Lost” is inspired by John Milton’s epic tale of the battle between good and evil. This 21st century adaptation is an exploration of gender, patriarchy and notions of original sin.

pg24cThis script is brilliant, cheeky, irreverent and fiercely engaging. The cast of characters includes God, his Son, the archangels, Adam and Eve, Satan and a host of devils. It is a profound and thought-provoking exploration of Adam and Eve’s decision to eat that apple.

Directed by Lynn Phelan, the cast is comprised of Ron Mikulicic, Graham Miller, Alison Palmer, Barbara Pruitt, Diana Rowland, Darlene Sherwood, James Viers, Claudine Weinfeld  and Tony Wilshere.
