Reader’s Theatre
The next production in Lakeside Little Theatre’s Ajijic Reader’s Theatre (ART) series is “It’s My Party,” with show dates of January 22 to 24. All performances are at 4 p.m.
The play by Elizabeth Coleman is a dark comedy where Ron Patterson gathers his dysfunctional family round him to let them know that three months ago he had been given three months to live, and he has 111 minutes to go. He has lots of finger food, and a strict schedule of events to neatly tie up all loose ends. What could possibly go wrong?
The cast of Graham Miller, Collette Clavadetscher, Marsha Heaton, Mark Heaton, Lynn Gutstadt and Mark Donaldson is directed by Liz O’Neill.
Covid-19 precautions will be in place for all performances with open-air seating in LLT’s Angel Terrace for approximately 40 individuals, while maintaining a minimum of six feet social distancing.

Benefit concerts
The Lake Chapala Society hosts two concerts by Branden and James: “Beyond the Yellow Brick Road” as benefit performances for LCS. The performance is a musical mash-up celebrating the brilliance of Elton John’s greatest hits, plus favorite tunes from iconic films “The Wizard of Oz” and “The Wiz,” as well as the hit Broadway show “Wicked.”
Both concerts are Friday, January 22, at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. in the LCS Garden.
Tickets will be limited to 100 seats for each performance, advance purchase only. No tickets sold at the gate. VIP tickets (50 seats, features prime location with table) are 500 pesos.
General admission tickets (50 arranged in rows) are 350 pesos.
Advance tickets may be purchased via the LCS website or in person at the LCS office.
Virtual art show
Although Covid-19 restrictions have curtailed evening art events just as the season unfolds, the Ajijic Society of the Arts (ASA) is holding Virtual Art Shows at the ASA Art Store (AjijicArtSale.com), where you can find works by local artists, review them and claim them online. You can search by artist or by type of art and refine the search by a variety of details. Once selected, the artist will email the buyer to arrange payment and pick up.
