Aerial dance, contemporary dance, art, music, wine and more will be on tap at the Antigua Presidencia in Chapala for the third and final Mujeres a Través del Arte y la Cultura event, Saturday, July 10, 6:30 p.m.
The 70-peso entrance ticket includes a glass of wine and canapes. Musician and singer Esteban Oettling will entertain.
Live Theatre
Bravo! Theatre presents “The Epic of Gilgamesh,” in English, presented by the 5th grade class of My Land School, Friday, July 9, 6 p.m. and Saturday, July 10, noon. These young thespians explore the themes of friendship, animosity, love, death, immortality and the nature of relationships between mortal and the divine. Art Auction
An art auction to benefit the cultural project Colores Que Dan Vida (colors that give life), will be held Saturday, July 17, at Restaurant Viva Mexico, in San Juan Cosala.
Work by 39 local artists will be sold under the gavel of Luis Pinedo. The auction will be held at two times: 1:30 p.m., with music by Lola la Tequilera, and again at 5:30 p.m., with music by the International School String Orchestra.
Colores Que Dan Vida is an art project for children, which began in 2019 but had to shut down during the pandemic. The program is gearing up again to give classes to up to 20 economically challenged children in San Juan Cosala.
Theater at LLT
Lakeside Little Theatre’s Ajijic Readers Theatre (ART) presents “Light Sensitive,” written by Jim Geoghan and directed by Dave McIntosh, Friday to Sunday, July 16-18. All performances are at 4 p.m. on The Angel Terrace.
Ken Yakiwchuk, Brian Fuqua, Liz O’Neill are the cast of this funny, honest, poignant, pertinent, bittersweet comedy that follows two lost souls who meet in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.
Concerts in the Park

Roy Cruz performs the Freddie Mercury Story: “I Want It All” airs at the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) Sunday, July 25, with shows at 3:30 and 6 p.m. Sing along with Queen’s greatest hits, such as “I Want to Break Free,” “The Show Must Go On,” Bohemian Rhapsody,” and many more.
On the horizon are The Crooners Tribute on August 22 and Showgirl staring Christine Deaver on August 29.
